Actually, I have no idea what kind of president he would have made. If nothing else, however, he IS the "more sensitive idiot" New Orleans asked for. Right now, that's the highest praise I can give.

As [livejournal.com profile] koimistress says, for every government official (elected or appointed) who shamed us, there were private citizens -- from every point along the influence scale! -- who went above and beyond 'because it was the right thing, the decent thing to do.

Some might say that's how it should be -- that the government should not be responsible for 'this sort of thing.' Fine. Then let's rethink that entire "Homeland Security" charter, hall we? because it seems to think that this is exactly the sort of thing the government should be involved in...

Argh. Dandelions. Going to sit in a patch of them again.

I'm away-from-keyboard for the next 24 hours, and the last e-mail I send out? A gentle reminder (okay, a demand) for regular updates on today's Test Match scores.

Arrrgh.

[livejournal.com profile] karentraviss and [livejournal.com profile] agamisu are laughing right about now. Hard.

It's not that I care about the results, really, except as reasonable self-interest dictates. (*innocent blink*) But there's all this stuff about the game I don't understand, yet, and that drive me crazy(er). So I have to follow along, at least until i can take it in at a glance and know a) what's going on, b) why and c) who I can tease, and who I need to console.

It's suri's law of sporting events. :-)
