Welcome to 2009, everyone!
We saw 2008 out with champagne, strawberries, fireworks and bad movies. January 1 started with caffeine, mimosas, and reading out on the patio, soaking in sunlight and clear blue skies, followed by a small NYD gathering, and a lovely walk along the beach. The reading material is Mike Carey's THE DEVIL YOU KNOW. Freelance exorcist in an alternate modern London. So far, so interesting.
January 2 has started with a full night's sleep under my ear, and a few hours of of work on a proposal before going off to play. Still reading THE DEVIL YOU KNOW. I have hesitations, but enjoying it nonetheless.
This weekend there are plans to hang out by the gulf of Mexico, eat good food, maybe see some local friends, and go shopping/antiquing. Mmmmm, antiquing.
It's interesting -- I love the tropics, for short periods of time. The breeze and the smell/sound of the ocean soothe me in ways nothing else can. And yet, I find myself missing the snow back home. I guess I'm just a Yankee* Girl, through and through....
*for the true use of the term, and having nothing whatsoever to do with baseball
