My Last Post of 2006

My bags are packed, my ride's at the door, and tomorrow morning I will wake up far from here....
The thing about growing up is that time seems to move so much more quickly. 2007? Wasn't it just the new Millennium? Weren't we all staring at Y2K and wondering which way the world would tip?
It seems so very long ago, and yet just yesterday.
2006 was a good year for me. Not a great year -- things went wrong, things (and people) were lost, and if success walks with us, disappointment heels alongside like the dog it is. But a good year in terms of people met, milestones achieved, and dreams made flesh. But what it was most of all was a year of grounding. I go into 2007, as a friend observed a few days ago, more assured and confident in myself than I have been in... well, a long time.
I have no idea what's to come. If someone were to offer to tell me, I'd decline.
Hello, 2007.
Merry Christmas to those who observe, and Happy New Year to everyone. As has become my traditional toast: May the best of the past year be the worst we face in the year to come!
Be safe. And I'll see you in January...
