Happy mother's day, to all who are, or had, or live with one...

This morning, my folks came up a) to see the new place, b) to leave their car with me prior to their heading off to Alaska for vacation, and c) to foist a new-apartment-warming gift on me. I woke early, because my mother's "we'll get there mid-morning" could be anywhere from 9:30 to 11. It ended up being closer to 11 -- I'd forgotten my dad was driving. *grin*

We went to Zinc, because I am a good daughter-child and my foodie inclinations didn't come out of thin air, damn it. foodie details )

I will not eat again until Tuesday.

Meanwhile we rediscovered an interesting fact -- Boomer adores my dad. My dad adores Boomer. If only they could have a cat in their apartment... well, no I wouldn't give him up. But we're already planning play-dates. :-)

And now, interlude over, back to the chaos which is eating my brain, although in a good and productive way. I had actually done the "things I've lived through" meme, but LJ ate it, and I'm too lazy to do it again right now.

Although, in this case, the movie (sorry, PotC) is damnfine, and the commentary (Kiera K. and Jack Davenport) is just an added fillip of snarky joy...

"How can one man wear so much brocade, and not be classified as a mardi gras float?"

"Sit back, relax, and enjoy some very repressed work."

"What was it like being in a film with 250,000 men? Was it lovely? Or was it a bit much?"

"There was a certain amount of courtly man-love going on."

Suddenly, I am filled with great love for Jack Davenport. And I think he would make a truly lovely, lovely Sergei. Should anyone be listening...
