Wiped. Totally.
Dec. 18th, 2003 09:46 pmWas up at 6 this morning to drive into the city. Parked across the street from the Flightless Waterfowl, and stopped in a) to see folk, b) drop off former assistant's share of the holiday cookie loot (and give friend her birthday ginger-bear cookies), and c) pick up some boxes I had left there in November.
Then I went midtown to see Editor B, who is soon to move to another publisher. So if she buys something of mine there, does that make her Editor C, or does she remain Editor B and whoever takes over the projects from her become Editor C? Much confused on protocol of this.
And thence up to Grand Central Station, where I managed to get some work done on the revisions in the middle of the chaos, while waiting for two friends to meet me for lunch. Which was very good, and we were ladylike in splitting the dessert. Nobody lost any fingers.
And then up to the offices of one friend where I sat amidst their chaos and worked on the revisions some more until my laptop batteries moaned and died. And then spent some time drinking wine, eating munchies, and gossiping with fellow publishing types at their holiday party.
And then I went all the way downtown, picked up the car ($17 for all-day parking in Manhattan. Ya gotta know where to go!) and came home. And now I realize how settled in my ways I've become, because I don't want to leave the house for another week, at least.
Tomorrow, with luck, will be a heavy push to finish the revisions. Wish me perseverance, dedication, and a heavy dose of inspiration matched with delicate creativity...
