I promised myself I'd give this remake a try. Half an hour, to see if it could hold me.
It couldn't.
I dunno, maybe it will get better. Hope so. But where the first BG was somewhat (okay, very) cheesy, fast-paced fun frm the very beginning, this is sort of slow, very dark, and appears to suffer from Duneitis. The only thing I really enjoyed was Starbuck; ego, cigar and all.
The thing is, this either needed to be so totally "whoa" at the fx and dialogue as you were watching that you didn't care that you knew what was going on, or it should have the easy comfort of a Known and Beloved Quantity. This, for me, fell into the bland territory between those two.
Peter's still watching. If he says it gets better, I'll catch it in repeats. I'm not setting aside any chunks of time, though.
(and what was with the doctor's office that couldn't afford soundproofing? Huh? Totally threw me out of the scene wondering why the hell they did that. Not to mention the scene with the so-called diplomat at the beginning, which made me think "oh, good, one less idiot to worry about" when She-cylon took him on.)
