from CNN:

"Senate votes 63-37 to loosen President Bush's ban on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, a move Bush has pledged to veto."

Go, Senate!

The news today says...maybe.

Specifically, a vaccine for cervical cancer, the first ever specifically designed to prevent cancer*.

I'm...cautious, because hopes have been dashed before. But it's a hell of a forward leap. And since I'm in the high-risk category for cervical cancer, I'm feeling it doubly so.

If you donated to the Revlon Run/Walk? Feel good. You helped get us here.

*and, of course, there are *expletives deleted* who want to deny the vaccine, because they claim it will 'encourage promiscuity." If someone says that near you? Hit them. Hard. I'll be your alibi.

I have f***ed up my knee. I have no idea how -- sometime mid-afternoon it felt as though someone had tied a knot in the cartiledge. By evening, it was stiff and aching. It currently hurts like a m**********r.

I'm supposed to work a full shift tomorrow. This should be... interesting.

On the plus side, pain seemed to focus my mind wonderfully, as the knot in the plot has untangled, smoothed out, and extended the interweaving threads well into the fifth book and prepared to tie the entire series up in a nice neat bow... while still leaving enough string to weave book 6, which is going to hidden for obvious reasons )

You take what victories you can. At least until the painkillers kick in.
