checking in from new haven...

I've given up any pretense of working -- haven't been able to get a call in to NYC, anyway, and most of my IM list isn't responding.
Some folk down the street have tried to make a break for it, but I don't know where they think they're going, where it might be better. We're staying put. This house is over a hundred years old; they built 'em strong, back then.
We've barricaded the main entrances, and stockpiled all the food in the house into an inside room. The only tv station still broadcasting is showing a marathon of Sherlock Holmes movies. It's kind of reassuring, actually. We have food, water, music (my downstairs neighbors are professional musicians) and medical supplies (my upstairs neighbor is an intern). And there are four full gallons of gasoline, if we need them, waiting in the sunporch, along with my swords, and T's rifle.
We're just waiting for sundown, now.
I'm glad I got the kittens their shots this morning. It may not matter, in the long run, but at least I don't have to worry about them getting infected. Strange, the things you think about.
