Poor battered beatdown Greggo. He did so good, our boy did. And he didn't use it for sympathy at all, not even when nobody would have blinked at it.
The first half hour of this episode was a solid "A" -- strong, unnerving, and evocative. I wish they'd had more in terms of the 'costumes' the kids were wearing, but I suspect there was stuff cut for time.
The second half of the ep, somehow, was weaker. And by weaker I mean still very good, but not as intense because they had so many things to deal with. This is one of the few eps I think might have been better served by a two-parter....
That said, watching the rest of the team deal with Greg's injuries, and their various reactions to the amoral nature of the killers.... the last scene was slightly forced, but the emotions were beautiful -- Catherine resigned, Nicky pissed, Warrick thoughtful, Sara judgemental and Gris quietly simmering.
I did find it interesting that they ony showed Sara (at the scene) and Grissom (in the ospital) interacting with Greg. Wonder what they're setting up.... (hope it's not a rivalry -- Gris and Sara are being cute, in their own quiet way. "Is that a challenge? *raised eyebrow, quizzical look* "No." heee. Also, hot.)
And then there was Shark. I still have to sit back and think about this one for a bit. Lots of character revelation and development, with a lot of backstory and all that juicy stuff. A nice move to take some of the weight off Woods, not that he isn't more than capable of carrying it all himself.
Overall? This show may yet eradicate my Shark phobia.
News:
1. Shut up about the plane accident, already. It was a terrible accident. It wasn't a city-wide trauma. And if you must speak of it, please try to remember that TWO people died there, not just one Yankee. Thank you.
2. Buffalo. Dudes. *hands out sweaters and shovels* Keep the snow for another month or so, 'k? After Thanksgiving, we're fair game. Not until then, tho.
But I forsee the heat coming on this weekend, hoo yah.
