Got the page proofs yesterday for "Kidpro," the story I sold to Wizards, Inc. It will, according to the copyright page, be available from DAW in November 2007. Yay!

This is an interesting story. I thought so when I first thought of it, and I thought so when I finished it. What I had forgotten, sort of, was how it ended. Damn. Gave myself an ooky shiver, reading it through again.

[livejournal.com profile] greeneyedkzin you may be -- well, 'amused' by the story probably isn't the right work. Have a ping of recognition, perhaps. Magic + Wall Street = SEC headache. And also heartache.

As a "sorry I've not been home much" gift to the felines, I picked up a small container of Cosmic Catnip yesterday. It was in my briefcase when I got home last night, and I planned on giving them some this afternoon.

I just walked into the den and found my briefcase on the floor, the container of catnip between Boomer's paws. The plastic had been punctured in several places by claw and tooth (although he had not, thankfully, been able to pry open the lid).

(and no more kitty picspam for a while, I promise)

I...really just don't know what to say about this. On the one hand, yay for making writers and readers stars! On the other... can we say probable trainwreck of fantastic proportions?

*watch the writer do a happy dance*

Why?

Because I just got my revision letter for DOWN INTO DARKNESS (or whatever we end up calling it) and the letter started off with:

"Ooh! This might be one of my favorites of yours!"

Madame Editrix then went on to tell me all the things I need to change or fix [and I got revision notes on something else today as well], so there's not much risk of swelled head, but... *is smug anyway* I made my editor miss her dinner, because she was so caught up in the book!

*ahem.* Right. Smug-break over. Now I gotta go fix all the stuff as is broke.
