I have had a good day, bad day, good day thing going, in rapid fire, all day.

So I leave you only with this, courtesy of Gardner Dozois:

THINGS THAT HALLMARK CARDS DON'T SAY

"Reality is mutable, and I change mine every day. (It's only sanitary!)"

Yah youbetcha.

In other words, work continues. As does some sideline thinking. More as/if it gels...

Everyone has one deep dark secret, the one they hug tight and never talk about.

This isn't mine.

This is just one of the lighter, semi-shadowy, very silly when spoken out loud things: I live in hesitation of reviews.

Not fear -- hesitation. And not just of bad ones -- I don't even like getting good ones, because good reviews are as scary in their own way as bad ones, if only because if you give one weight, you must give the other equal validation.

It's also embarassing and somewhat telling to admit that the only way to get me to blush is to compliment my writing. Nothing else -- just the writing.

I hate blushing.

That does not, however, keep me from being pleased when someone says nice things about my work. Especially when it's one I had doubts about, myself.

And so, via [livejournal.com profile] girasole, the best-ever adopta-mom, the Booklist review for GRAIL QUEST: THE CAMELOT SPELL!

"This first offering of the Grail Quest trilogy introduces three young teens on a mission to save King Arthur's court. On the eve of Arthur's quest for the Holy Grail, a strange sleep falls over the castle, affecting all the adults. Convinced that only Merlin can undo the magic, Gerard, a young squire; Newt, a stable boy; and Ailis, amaidservant with magical powers, set off to locate the wandering enchanter and secure his help in reversing the spell. The main characters are nicely developed. They spar incessantly (many of the story's lighter moments arise from this verbal jousting) and although each teen is convinced that his or her particular training is what's needed to accomplish the task, the three eventually learn they can succeed only by working together. A fine addition to the growing body of Arthurian spin-offs, this will be popular with fantasy lovers and Merlin fans."

So, the mail brings a package from Luna.

Cover flats! Not only for BRING IT ON, but for the mass market edition of STAYING DEAD as well!
And they're lovesome things, they are.

Except...

Errors made on the first go-round of STAYING DEAD (purely stuff the buyers and salespeople see, nothing visible to the marketplace) are -- DESPITE my yowling, because I HATE seeing errors of this sort on sales material and being promised they would be deleted from the file and erased from memory -- right there in the sales push material for the mass market edition as well.

*sigh*

I know how these things happen. I know how impossible it is to ever get sales to admit that they have ANYTHING in error. Ditto marketing/publicity. But still. Jebus. People.

But it's a lovely day, and I have lovely cover flats, and some day they will be lovely books, and it's Friday and all's still okay with the world n many fronts. And my new Netflix dvd just arrived.

So. There.

*deep breath, exhale, refuses to look at faulty sales info any more*

Yes, I'm still following various political Happenings and Disasters, and channeling my ire into various actions... I've just gotten to the point where I can either talk about it, or do something about it, but I don't have the fortitude to do both.

I'm sure this too shall pass, and there will be political content to this journal once again. I just don't know when.
