Vacation's over. Back to the (alleged) real world. 'allo, stress!

Ah well. Woke up this morning with both felines curled up next to me, purring away; Pandora doing her "me cute! You pet me!" thing, Boomer happily kneeding at my hair. Aw. I guess they missed me.

ETA: Actually, I've had a steady stream of feline visitors this morning; they come in, sniff, try to go to sleep on the various paperwork spread out everywhere (nobody gets to sleep on the line edit, which they reluctantly accept), chase each other off the bed, come 'round again, argue over who gets to sleep on the printer, etc. It's good to be a cat, clearly.

*goes off to sort through mail, look at line edit, balance accounts... ah, monday.*

courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] sdn, the pertinent bits from the Kirkus review:

"... Gilman crafts a competent series opener... the characters are familiar without being utterly typecast, the author borrows from T.H. White as well as Thomas Malory and there is a consistent sense of "what's going to happen next?" that will keep readers turning the pages. (Fantasy. 11-13)"

It's not a rave, but "will keep readers turning the pages." I can live with that.

(although the readership, according to the packager's notes, was actually closer to 9-11 than 11-13, which limited how much I was able to do with the storyline. Ah well.)
