It looks like I'll be doing a reading at 8:30pm on Thursday.

Too late for the program book/printed schedule, so feel free to spread the word. And if anyone happens to be wandering by on their way to the bar, feel free to stop in! I'll probably have my flask with me, so you won't even be missing too much on the booze front, for that half hour....

Now, to decide what the hell I'm going to read...

So [livejournal.com profile] paleologa and I went for a walk around our neighborhood, to check out the Halloween scene. And man, is it hoppin! Kidpacks everywhere, ranging from babes in-arms (wearing adorable sleeper-costumes, natch) to the jr high and high school kids doing their best to look cool and cutting edge in the same old cross-dressing type costumes their parents wore back in the 70's. Or (ulp) the 80's. amd now I'm depressed.

What was really cool, though, were the houses. Major over-the-top decorating going on, from bats to skeletons to multiple carved jack-o-lanterns to total haunted house motifs. And one huge gothic-style house that had something going on that -- after a loud and spooky noise, had kids fleeing the front door shrieking in terrrified giggles. No, we didn't go check it out. Although I was tempted.

Oh, and many many cop cars cruising the streets. I suspect by 8pm or so, when the older kids have control of the streets, the cops will be even more overt in their prowling...

All in all, after too many years of low turnout and depressed statistics, a most satisfactory Halloween report.
