ah, weekend. What is that concept all about, again?

First, welcome newcomers! I refer you back a few posts to the "Ask me Anything" Open Thread still ongoing.

Me, I spent yesterday being Social. Social is fun. Social is also exhausting. (Extrovert? Me? Not.) Came home and collapsed.

The next two days are being spent denned up and working. Revisions to chew on, paperwork to handle, a new project to outline. Which means I'll either be vewy vewy quiet, or spamming LJ every hour or so. Only time will tell...

working weekend brunch

Two eggs, whisked with salt, white pepper, and sweet paprika. Torn bits of days-old Italian bread (it must be stale!) dropped into the eggs to soften slightly, then the entire thing is turned into a frying pan and scrambled. Sliced bits of steak left over from dinner a few nights ago is added, and the entire mixture is cooked together. It's a total "leftovers useup" meal, very easy to make when your brain's elsewhere, and OMG it's really really good.

Of course, the fact that all I've been doing lately is "feed self with whatever's easy" is making me itch with the need to do some real, hands-on cooking. I scent a trip to the local markets soon, to see what's fresh...

I need a 'what's cookin'"-style icon. Hrm....

the five stages of a revisions letter.

1. Print the letter out and skim it quickly, allowing only the major points to jump out and let me know the general tone [did I pass? Fail? Am I going to have to fall on my sword or collapse in relief?]

2. Do everything else on to-do list before forcing self to sit down and actually re-read the letter.

3. Read the letter more carefully, letting the general tone of the letter sink in, seeing if I have a strong, immediate reaction to anything ["Oh, yeah!" or "Hell, no!"].

4. Start making scribbled notes on the letter, coming up with possible corrections/reworks, preparatory to talking things over with Madame Editrix on Monday.

5. Actual writing.
