Weekend Updateish
The first third of Burning Bridges has been gone over, torn apart, and put back together again. I like the book so far. This makes me nervous. *grin* Seriously, there's a lot of stuff going on, almost all of which builds on earlier books, but it's clarified in a way that made sense to first-readers and didn't feel heavy-handed to continuing readers, so I'm hopeful that I've hit the Happy Medium --
which is a damned difficult thing to do in book four of a six book (so far) series, let me tell you!

peggin, which was nice. I love showing my new home to people -- and the excuse to try new restaurants. Sorry about the pollen count!
It also, as it turns out, is Commencement weekend here. We've been invaded by Yalie-kin! Tomorrow (graduation day), I plan to stay as far away from campus as is humanly possible without actually leaving the house -- except I've made plans to meet friends downtown for drinks. Oh. Talk about bad timing...
Much other stuff going on in the background, including trying to juggle travel schedules, work schedules, and cat-sitting. Anyone want to sit on a cat? Too much stuff to keep track of. Wheeee. I have brought out the high octane cafFiend for the week. You've Been Warned.
Oh, and
seachanges? I've wimped. I'm watching 'History of the World, Part I' instead of the 10.5 quake movie. I just couldn't do it... I felt guilty about leaving you alone with that thing. So yeah, am watching. There's not enough single malt in the house to suffer this painlessly...
"...this is unlike anything we've ever seen." What, they didn't watch the first movie? God, wish I hadn't.
*stares at screen in total astonishment, watching the teaser for part 2* Who greenlighted this? And who let them into the medicine cabinet? Because nobody straight and sober gave the okay to this....
UPDATE: and Barbaro's out of surgery, and recovering well! He'll never race again, but I don't think anyone even in their wildest dreams expected/hoped for that. But he's still with us, showing good signs, and has a 50/50 chance. That's better than the prognosis was this morning...
I know, in this world, the fate of one horse ins't all that important... but maybe that's why it's even more important to care. Not quite the fall of the sparrow, but...
